Obituary for Lois Marotz

Lois Mae Kuester Marotz was born June 4, 1933 in rural Stanton County to Ida Renner and Walter Kuester. She was baptized into Christ’s family on June 25, 1933 at St. Mathew’s Lutheran Church of rural Wisner, NE by Pastor Harms. She was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at St. Matthew's by Pastor C. A. Reimnitz. Her confirmation verse was: 1 Corinthians 7:20 (NIV) 20 “Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.” She attended elementary school at District 46 in rural Stanton, and graduated from Stanton High School with the class of 1950. After graduation she taught rural Stanton County School District 34 for two years.

On June 29, 1952 she married Weldon Arthur Marotz at St. Matthew's by Pastor Hildebrand. They lived on the family farm for 30 years and raised four children: Weldon,”Arddie” Jr.; Lynnette , Michael, and Todd Marotz. Weldon and Lois celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this past June 4, 2017. Lois made her husband, family and home her life’s purpose. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and gardening. Lois was a member of the Home Culture Extension Club which had a large membership of women from rural northeast Stanton County.

They moved into a home in Stanton in 1982 and she began working outside the home at the Stanton Nursing Home Dietary Department and continued to enjoy that for 14 years. Lois was an avid reader and visited Stanton Public Library weekly. She enjoyed playing bridge with several card groups in the Stanton area. Lois gave faithful service to
St. John’s Lutheran church in many ways.

Lois is survived by her husband, Weldon, Sr.; three sons and spouses: Weldon, Jr."Arddie" and Debbie (Uttecht) Marotz, and Michael and Diann (Podany) Marotz of Stanton, and Todd and Jodie (Burtwistle) Marotz of Sleepy Eye, MN. 10 Grandchildren: Katie(Mike) Rohrich, Lees Summit, MO; Mollie(Brandon) Trease, Bloomington , Ill; Weldon III "Jake" (Karen) Marotz of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Leah Barr; and Burke(Anna) Barr, all of Denver, CO; Morgan (Tony) Schwartz, of Stanton; Malori (Josh) Cornett, of Wisner, NE; Mitchel (Jaclyn) Marotz, of Papillion, NE; Jordan Marotz , Brookings, SD; and Jace Marotz of Sleepy Eye, MN. She enjoyed 13 great grandchildren. Lois is survived by one brother, LaVern Kuester, also of Stanton.

Several loved ones preceded her in death. One daughter, Lynnette Rae Barr, and one granddaughter, Leslie Ellen Barr. Brothers: Dennis Kuester and Orvall Kuester, Sr. . Sisters: Volanda Wittgow, Imogene Folken, and Fern Watts. Lois entered her eternal home at the age of 84 years 87 days on Thursday August 31, 2017 at Norfolk Care and Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk.
