Obituary for Varedo Agnes Huwaldt

Varedo Agnes Huwaldt, age 101 of Randolph, died Saturday January 20, 2018 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. She was born November 20, 1916 at Pierce, Nebraska the daughter of Frank and Marcella (Roskopf) Raubach. She graduated from Pierce High School and attended a year at Wayne State College.

On June 21, 1936 Varedo married Harrison Huwaldt at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce. The couple made their home in Randolph where Harry started a trucking business moving cattle, eggs, feed and cream to market. The Huwaldt’s opened Huwaldt’s 66 Station at Randolph and Varedo filled in as needed.

Varedo was a member of St. Frances de Chantal Catholic Church where she belonged to the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and played the pipe organ for over 25 years, member of Randolph Woman’s Club and a former 4-H leader.

She enjoyed playing music on piano and organ; playing golf, water skiing, fishing; an extremely talented seamstress; knitting; great cook most especially preparing wild game; she enjoyed gardening.

Surviving Varedo, her husband of 81 years, Harrison Huwaldt of Randolph; 3 Children, Sharon and Charlie Feinstein of Monroe Township, NJ; Michael and Kathy Huwaldt of Wheat Ridge, CO; Sue and Ed Ubben of Lincoln, NE; 6 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; 1 sister Barbara and Harold Plahn of Grafton, VA.

Preceded in death by firstborn daughter, Rita, of SIDS, at age 4 months; her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
