William “Bill” Louis Dahlkoetter, age 80 of Stanton, died Friday July 13, 2018 at his home in Stanton. Funeral services will be Thursday July 19, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at New England Congregational United Church of Christ in Stanton with Reverend Linda Mohr, officiating; Interment at Stanton Cemetery with Military Rites by V.F.W. Post #3602 and American Legion Post #88 of Stanton and members of United States Army Honor Guard; Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at New England Congregational United Church of Christ under direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.

Bill was born May 27, 1938 at Stanton, Nebraska the son of Walter and Ethel (Shoemaker) Dahlkoetter. He was baptized on October 9, 1943 and confirmed on April 6, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Altona, Nebraska. Bill attended grade school in Cuming County and graduated from Pilger High School in 1956. After graduation, he enlisted August 8, 1956 into the United States Army, and served his country for 2 years, spending 16 months in Korea, he was honorably discharged from service on May 27, 1958. After his discharge, he did plastering and sheet-rocking for Roger Gentzler until he began his career as a bricklayer, and continued doing masonry work for over 40 years, retiring in 2006. Bill belonged to Bricklayers Union #1 for many years.

On November 28, 1958 Bill married Phyllis Bates at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. The couple would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in November.

Bill was a member of New England Congregational United Church of Christ in Stanton, and had served on several boards of the church. He served on the Stanton Planning Commission. Bill was an avid golfer for many years, and was a member of Elkhorn Acres Golf Club where he played league. He was a Nebraska Cornhusker follower. In later years he enjoyed watching golfing, country music, and watching all sports on TV. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He faithfully raised the flag every morning, and took it down every night.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Dahlkoetter of Stanton; 3 sons Todd and Shelly Dahlkoetter of Stanton; David Dahlkoetter of Hewitt, TX; Brad Dahlkoetter of Stanton; 3 daughters Shari and Quinn Lewchuk of Sheldon, IA; Jenny Hill of Stanton; Jody and Steve Reitz of Grand Island; 13 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers Jerry and Linda Dahlkoetter of Norfolk and Steve and Phyllis Dahlkoetter of Norfolk; 2 sisters Jacque and Richard Trefry of Clifton, VA; Sandy and Jim Parks of Omaha.

Preceding him in death are his parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother and one grandson.
