Obituary for Thomas F. Riedmiller

Thomas F. Riedmiller, age 79 of Randolph, died Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. He was born August 21, 1939 at Hospers, IA the son of Tony and Isabel (Jungers) Riedmiller. He graduated from Hospers High School in 1957 and graduated in 1959 from Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha. Tom served in the Air National Guard, 185th unit in Sioux City, IA serving for 6 years.

On September 28, 1968 Tom married Lynn Fuchtman at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, NE, almost 50 years ago. Tom was employed at the Toy National Bank in Sioux City, IA for 9 years; at Crofton State Bank in Crofton for 6 months; at First Trust and Savings Bank in Remsen, IA for about 4 years; before coming to First State Bank in Randolph. He served there for 29 years, as Executive Vice President, except for his last 3 years when he served as First State Bank President.

He retired in January 2002 after a banking career of 42 years and remained on the Board of Directors of First State Bank. He worked as a part-time van driver for Osmond General Hospital for 5 years. He thoroughly enjoyed this, to drive, go places and visit with his riders.

As a member of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph, Tom belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council #5143, and served as Grand Knight. He served on the church finance committee for 16 years, an EME and commentator at Mass, as a C.C.D. teacher and a member of Parish council where he served as President.
Tom served his community as a member of the Randolph Community Club, he served as President. He was on the Randolph City Council for 8 years and served as President. He served as member of Osmond General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, serving as Vice President.

He was a member of the American Institute of Banking, Packers (Omaha) Board, and Northeast Nebraska Bankers, serving as President.

Tom had many interests, including his family and grandchildren; 50’s music, especially Elvis, and had an extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia. He and Lynn belonged to a couples Pinochle Card Club for several decades. They enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, Europe, Canada and Mexico. Especially enjoyable was spending time in Arizona during winters, in retirement. He was known for keeping cars clean and shining. He was proud of the fact that he had 4 holes-in-one in golf, and enjoyed his golf and bowling leagues.

Survivors include his wife, just 16 days short of 50 years of marriage, Lynn Riedmiller of Randolph; 4 children Mike and Carisa Riedmiller of Lincoln; Julie Riedmiller of Denver, CO; Cheryl and Shannon Koepke of Elkhorn; and Kim Riedmiller of Lincoln; 5 Grandchildren Madison, Sophia, and Dillon Riedmiller of Lincoln; Chase and Mia Koepke of Elkhorn; 1 Sister Dolores Wolbers of Arvada, CO and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents; brother Virgil; sister Blanche Klein and his grandparents.
